We hosted a Father Daughter Dance at Pulaski Tech on Saturday February 18th 2017. The goal of this event was to increase father participation in the education and lives of their children. The UAMS Head Start & Early Head Start Father/Daughter Ball was a HUGE SUCCESS! Over 60 fathers and father-figures attended with their daughters. Click on each picture for a larger version.
Head Start News
Story from Dr. Feild
From Dr. Feild (executive director)
“I had a chance encounter with a lady today, whose 10-year-old son was a head start child. She could not say enough good things about the program, and how much help she and her child had received. The good we do matters… And keeps paying off.”
“I met ANOTHER family singing the praises of Head Start. The child was speech and language impaired and having behavior problems. ‘Head Start is what made the difference,’ pat yourselves on the back! Be proud of what you do!!”
Fatherhood Engagement Week
UAMS Hemlock and New Start Head Start programs held Fatherhood Engagement Weeks from February 13-16, 2016. Fathers and male family members play an important role in the lives of their children. We had 13 fathers participate! We hope to do it again next year. Expecting bigger and better things to come. They truly put smiles on their children’s faces.
Fathers teach their daughters how to:
- Have loving, trusting relationships with men
- Express anger appropriately
- Be self-confident
