Every year generous sponsors fulfill the holiday wishes of more than 700 children in the UAMS Head Start/Early Head Start program by adopting a classroom as part of the “Stuff the Stockings” program. Classes are available now to adopt.
Adopting a Head Start/Early Head Start classroom means providing one wrapped gift to each child in a classroom. The classrooms range from four children in an infant/toddler room to 14-20 children in a preschool classroom. You can team up with your friends, family or co-workers to sponsor a class!
Sponsors can choose to sponsor one classroom or more. Sponsors also can choose to visit the classroom to deliver the gifts or drop them off. All classrooms are in Pulaski County.
For more information or to sign up, please contact Rebecca Pecor at (501)526-6977 or rlpecor@uams.edu.
“Stuff the Stockings” began several years ago when UAMS Head Start/Early Head Start employees coordinated an event responding to the unmet holiday desires of their students. Since then UAMS Head Start/Early Head Start has partnered with departments within UAMS, various local businesses, sororities and fraternities throughout Pulaski County and with numerous individuals to help make the holidays more joyful for our children and families.
Head Start/Early Head Start is a federally-funded program run through UAMS that supports high-need children and families ages 6 weeks to 5 years in developing school readiness and self-sufficiency.
