Family style eating with balanced, nutritious meals gives children an opportunity to learn about healthy eating habits with support from their peers. UAMS Head Start/Early Head Start’s child nutrition services help families in meeting each child’s nutritional needs and in establishing good eating habits that nurture healthy development and promote life-long well-being.

- Height and weight measurements twice during the year
- Nutritious breakfast, snack, and lunch served each day. Daily menus are posted on Parent Board at your Head Start/Early Head Start location.

Meals
All meals served in our program meet the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) standards for nutritional content. It is the parent’s responsibility to inform the Site Manger and Teacher if their child has any food allergies or if the child is on a special diet. A doctor’s statement is required in order for specific adjustments to be made to the meals served.
No outside food is allowed in the sites at any time other than approved food items for celebrations.

Comidas
- Todas las comidas que se sirven en nuestro programa cumplen con los estándares de contenido nutricional del Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos (USDA). Es responsabilidad de los padres informar al administrador del centro y al maestro si su hijo tiene alguna alergia a los alimentos o si el niño está en una dieta especial. Se requiere una declaración del médico para poder realizar ajustes específicos en las comidas que se sirven.
