Dear UAMS Head Start/Early Head Start Employees,
We want to take this time to confirm that UAMS Head Start/Early Head Start classes will be closed until April 17th in accordance with the Governor’s Announcement due to the coronavirus, or COVID-19, pandemic. UAMS Head Start/Early Head Start is scheduled to reopen on Monday April 20th, however, we will notify you as soon as possible if this changes. We recognize that this news will be concerning to many of our students and families. All decisions will be made in conjunction with our local school districts and direction from our Governor.
We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in our community and will update you as we learn more. Please remember that employees are still expected to service our families during this critical time. In fact, we know that are our families need us now more than ever.
Your direct manager will provide more information regarding work expectations during closures. Please continue to monitor your work email and let your manager know immediately if you are having issues with checking emails.
I want to remind everyone that you have signed a Temporary Remote Work Agreement which stipulates that employees will remain accessible and productive during scheduled work hours, employees will report to the employer’s work location as necessary upon directive from his or her supervisor and employees will communicate regularly with his or her supervisor and co-workers, which includes weekly written report of activities.
All staff will continue to be paid their regular wages. Head Start/Early Head Start employees who are unable to work from home due to remote access will also be paid their regular paycheck, however if UAMS has staffing needs in other areas you may be re-deployed.
Again, our top priority is the health and safety of our children, staff, and families. We are committed to supporting everyone through this closure and look forward to reopening once we receive more information. If you have additional questions, please direct them to your direct supervisor or Deputy Director.
Sincerely,
Tyra Larkin
Program Director
