Chicot Letter 9/24/20

Dear Parents,

You are receiving this letter because of a teacher at Chicot Head Start/Early Head Start has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Out of an abundance of caution, we want to let you know.

The teacher has not been at school this week. After being informed of the positive test result, we immediately consulted with UAMS Infection Control and the Arkansas Department of Health. They advised us that since the teacher didn’t have symptoms until Monday, which was more than 48 hours after contact with children, the risk of potential exposure is extremely low.

While we believe your child’s risk of exposure is very low, we recommend that you monitor your child’s health. If any symptoms develop (fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, muscle aches, sore throat, alteration in sense of smell or taste) please call the Arkansas Children’s Triage line at 1-800-743-3616.

The wellbeing of your children is our main focus. We will close Chicot Early Head Start tomorrow Friday 9/25 for deep cleaning and sanitation. Children may return to school on Monday 9/28/2020. As we have done since the first day of returning in June, we will continue to take every precaution. We will continue to screen all children and employees as they enter the school, check temperatures and encourage hand hygiene, sanitizing and mask usage.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact 501-570-5000.

Sincerely,

Tyra Larkin

Program Director
